Uses for Stainless Steel Square Tube
Those who haven’t heard of stainless steel square tube may wonder what this product is used for.  First, it’s important to note that due to the manufacturing process and the metals used in this product, it’s not going to rust and oxidize the way some of the other metal products on the market rust. This means that this product is a great choice for outdoor projects and for when the project will be exposed to moisture.

The types of projects stainless steel square tube are used for include frame working projects, braces, supports, marine projects, kitchen projects, and bathroom projects. Metal workers love to work with stainless steel tube because it is forming and machining. It’s famous for being easy to weld and is considered moderate when it comes to cutting.

With so many perks to this strong and affordable metal product, it can be found in kitchen appliances, used to make handrails, hospital equipment, welding applications, and more. People use it for working with citric acids, acetic, and nitric. This material is common in residential, industrial, manufacturing, and commercial projects.

Cold Working is An Option
Some people choose to work with 304 stainless steel square tubes because they can be cold worked. Why would someone want to use this type of application? Cold working increases the strength of the metal material. It’s important to note though that cold working can make the 304 stainless steel slightly magnetic. This comes in handy when someone wants the metal to become slightly magnetic, such as with the front of kitchen appliances.

304 Versus 304L Materials
When researching this type of product, both 304 and 304L stainless steel square tubes come up, leaving many people wondering what the difference is between the two. The difference is in the metal makeup of the two. The L in 304L actually stands for extra-low carbon.

When creating the 304 grade stainless metal, the carbon used is set to a maximum of 0.08%. For the 304L grade stainless steel metal, the carbon content is set to a maximum of 0.03%. This lower carbon content is where the L comes from and how 304L gets its name. For those wondering, the lower carbon version is just slightly weaker than the traditional 304 stainless steel.

The other metal and elements in 304 stainless steel and 304L stainless steel are basically the same. Both materials are made with the same amounts of chromium, iron, manganese, nickel, phosphorus, nitrogen, silicon, and sulfur. The only difference is the amount of maximum carbon content.

Many people ask why 304L stainless steel square tubes is an option if it’s not a strong as traditional 304 stainless steel square tubes. Some welders actually prefer the 304L version as it can be easier to weld. It also eliminates the need for those anneal weld joints being used prior to the completed metal form.

Other Names for 304 Stainless Steel Square Tubes
Just as some people use the word soda and others use the word pop to describe the same drink, people have different words to refer to this type of product. People often call 304 stainless steel square tubes structural stainless tube. They also call them stainless box tubes and use these alternate names to refer to the same 304 stainless steel square tubes.

304 Stainless Steel Square Tube is a Metal Working Winner
In conclusion, 304 stainless steel square tubes are a great investment for many metal and manufacturing projects. This type of metal is not going to rust or corrode like some of the other metal products on the market. It’s also one of the more affordable metal options available.

Welders enjoy working with this product because it’s easy to weld and is readily available. On top of cutting easily, it is available in many different lengths. People are actually surrounded by this product on a daily basis and they don’t even realize it.
